Ive been reading up on this and I think I have a handle on knowing
that I can use comx in cygwin or maybe /dev/ttySx  with my usb-serial
adapter.

heres my problem, some of the docs I read are old and they refer to
apps no longer with cygwin setup.

so my question is what apps are available from setup that allow serial
communication via a windows usb-serial adapter
