Why does the OS let this happen? I thought windoze should
avoid garbage. In my case, IIRC, they were 2 unrelated installs having
nothing to do with cygwin- is this unrelated to the OP's problem?
Maybe they both
used installshield or something but otherwise were independent. It isn't
just a clean conflict, like one update dropped updates from other
process, but IIRC I had
garbage in at least one variable.
