I have also tried the rsync transfer from safe mode which makes a BLODA 
issue highly unlikely and then from a clean 1.7 install after renaming 
my existing install folder.  Rsync and ssh both max out a processor core 
each for the transfer and it still goes much slower than it should.

Should I test a 1.5 install to see if it's a regression with 1.7 and 64 
bit Vista?
