hi,

I searched the mail list for job control and didnot see my issue, and I can
reproduce it both at work and at home:

type the command:
    cat|cat <Enter>

type ^Z, type
    bg <Enter>
or
    fg <Enter>

And it will display
    cat: -: Bad address

Could you please try to reproduce it?
