  Yeah, that's always the tricky bit.  I googled for
        +cygwin error +"google desktop"
and found a couple of pointers to google groups as results #3 and #4 that led
me to this report from last October:

  Argh.  Still, that key belongs to windows, there are lots of other things
that might end up there or cause it to be recreated, so editing it is an
unreliable technique at the best of times.  I see (OldNewThing 20071213) that
it's deprecated and disabled by default in vista (and presumably above).

  It occurs to me that we should dump it out in the cygcheck output, thanks
for the idea!
