Hash: SHA1
The xdelta set of packages, xdelta, xdelta-devel, and libxdelta2, have
been updated to 1.1.4-1, leaving 1.1.3-3 as previous.
NEWS:
=====
This is a new upstream release. Changes from 1.1.3-1 are:
* Add an implementation of xdp_generator_free() for users of the
~ libxdelta API. Previously there were no such users of the 1.x API,
~ but Elliot Lee <sopwith AT redhat DOT com> has written a program for
~ providing delta operations on RPM files. See http://@@@
* The man page now documents return values.
See also the upstream documentation in /usr/share/doc/xdelta-1.1.3/.
DESCRIPTION:
============
Xdelta is an application program designed to compute changes between
files. These changes (deltas) are similar to the output of the 'diff'
program in that they may be used to store and transmit only the changes
between files. However, unlike diff, the output of Xdelta is not
expressed in a human-readable format--Xdelta can also also apply these
deltas to a copy of the original file. Xdelta uses a fast, linear
algorithm and performs well on both binary and text files.
This package set has three parts:
- - xdelta provides the main application and documentation, download it if
you want to run xdelta
- - libxdelta2 provides runtime libraries that other projects may link
against - downloading this should be automatic if you use any package that
depends on the dynamic library
- - xdelta-devel provides headers and link libraries, download this only if
you intend on compiling an application that links against the library
UPDATE:
=======
To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the
http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system.
Save it and run setup, answer the questions, then look for 'xdelta' in the
'Utils' category, 'libxdelta2' in the 'Libs' category, and/or
'xdelta-devel' in the 'Devel' category.
