I did not know that the latest snapshot is for 1.7.x series of cygwin. Anyway, I created /etc/fstab  and I don't have the 3 messages on finding things like /usr/bin.
I also don't have a pop-up window on no /etc/fstab file. But after I get into rxvt and entering the following commands:

pwd  
cd /cygdrive/c
cd ~ 
ps   
vi .vimrc 
exit   

It always hang after the logout message ( I tried the above sequence 4 times)

I have to close the rxvt window to clear it up.
