I am guessing the bulk of the difference is due to this being formatted NTFS not FAT. Frankly having a FAT formatted ramdisk seems like a big waste of memory as with NTFS you can enable compression on the whole volume, though oddly even when you do that the VOLUME_IS_COMPRESSED flag is still FALSE.
