I thought I understood how the environment is setup but I guess I don't really. Can anyone tell me the order and file names that are executed to get the environment setup for a bash shell and tcsh shell? Bash: /etc/profile -> /etc/bashrc -> ~/.bash_profile -> ~/.bash_login -> ~/.profile Tcsh: /etc/csh.cshrc -> /etc/csh.login -> ~/.tcshrc -> ~/.history -> ~/.login What is executed prior to these files for setting up the environment? I added an echo statement for PATH as a first line in /etc/csh.cshrc. this variable was already defined with paths. Where does this get initialized?
