First of all thanks for the reply it has given me hope, and I really
appreciate letting me take some of your time.
but I am still stuck with this one and I am still seeking help

using your suggestion:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#!/bin/bash

cd "/c/WINDOWS/system32/LogFiles/WMS/[Global]/"

rsync -avz --recursive --files-from=< \
(find ./WMS_*.log -mtime -7 -print) \
"/c/WINDOWS/system32/LogFiles/WMS/[Global]" -e ssh admin AT myhost DOT net:/var/log/streaming/wms/logs

now when I run the script I get
$ ./rsync.sh
./rsync.sh: line 5: find: No such file or directory
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so I tried changing a few things around so that my script was more like
this

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#!/bin/bash
cd "/c/WINDOWS/system32/LogFiles/WMS/[Global]/"
find ./WMS_*.log -mtime -7 -print >> list
/usr/bin/rsync -avz --files-from=list -e ssh admin AT myhost DOT net:/var
/log/streaming/wms/logs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the change directory worked
and the list was printed
however I when I run it I get the --help page printed with rsync error:
syntax or usage error (code 1)
did I maybe just take a wrong turn here. it seems simple enough that I
should be able to create the list and then have rsync only sync the
files from the list. maybe I need to stick to the first script.
any help much appreciated

Thanks in advance.
Marvin
