Yes.  If you create ./patch.sh with Windows tools, it very likely has
carriage returns in addition to newlines as line endings.  Your installation
of Cygwin expects only newlines.  'd2u' will convert the files from Windows
to the expected format.  Using this conversion is the recommended way of
dealing with these occurrences.
