Did you happen to notice that this "workaround" is 3.5 years old? The
ssh-host-config script has since been augmented to work OOTB on 2003.

Please describe precisely the steps you took, the results you got, and
what exactly doesn't work in your setup. You might also want to review

> Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html

and provide the information requested there (in particular, the output of
"cygcheck -svr" on your system as an uncompressed text attachment).
Without this information, we cannot really help.
 Igor

Sorry did not see that post was so old, but it was the only relavent post I
could find pertaining to my problem.
http://www.cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2003-09/msg00312.html

I used the latest version of cygwin as of 3-14-07 and I followed these very
nice instructions:
http://www.netadmintools.com/art516.html

I can't seem to add users to my home folder with the script or by manually
creating folders with the same username.
I had cygwin running on a 2000 file server (without AD) and it worked like a
charm. I did not have to sue the BASH script to add users.
I just created some folder adn then gave them permissions and it worked
fine.
This time I am only able to log in with the admnistrator account which is
the same account I used to log in with during the set up of cygwin.
I try other accounts and I get a password privledge error.
Now, if I add the user to the ADMIN group, I can log in to the server via
SSH, but I am only able to see the remote desktop and the file sharing via
SSH is grayed out. Even though I manually created a folder with the same
user name as the account I am trying to log in with.
So obviously, things are much different with Server 2003 than with 2000. I
am running SBS 2003 with AD installed.
I have a feeling AD is what is holding me back.
BTW I am logging on from another computer on the LAN. I have not tried to
log on through a different sub net yet.

I have tried to add users with both the local and domain scripts.

I am attaching a few txt files that may help to explain just how jacked up I
have this thing.
I was getting a prompt for a password when I tried the VVV local host thing,
and it would not let me enter a password, so it times out.
I may just start from scrath, but I have spent hours trying to find the
solution and would hate to give up.
I have a feeling the same thing will happen if I re-install anyway. I
followed those directions to the T.
Maybe I should have tired these instead:
http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/%7Esmp/projects/ssh-windows/
but they just looked too un-windows for a MS guy like me.
I really appreciate your help.
I am positive it's a permission problem with SBS2003, but just not sure how
to resolve it

Curt
