Does the latest cygwin dll (1.5.24-2) work on Windows Vista (32 bit)? I use development tools from Altera which installs cygwin for the gnutools and their cross compiler. The version of the cygwin1.dll that is installed with their development tools is Product Version 1.3.23, Build Date 2003-03-27 18:48. I used this so far on Windows 2000. After installing the development tools on Vista I get the following error message when opening the bash shell of the SDK:

C:\altera\quartus51\bin\cygwin\bin\bash.exe: *** heap allocated but not at 0xF20000
3 [main] bash 2972 sync_with_child: child 2600(0x1C4) died before initialization with status code 0x1
137 [main] bash 2972 sync_with_child: *** child state waiting for longjmp
bash: fork: Resource temporarily unavailable
bash-2.05b$

I installed the latest cygwin package (1.5.24-2) from the web to a separate folder and could successfully open a cygwin bash without errors. I then copied the new cygwin1.dll to Altera's cygwin/bin directory and now Altera's SDK shell starts without the error message above, but I still get errors like the following when building a project in Eclipse.

4236186 [main] nios2-elf-gcc 2516 fork_copy: linked dll data/bss pass 0 failed, 0x336000..0x336264, done 0, windows pid 3068, Win32 error 487 Compiling alt_dev.c...
      8 [main] nios2-elf-gcc 2824 fork_copy: linked dll data/bss pass 0 failed, 0x8A6000..0x8A6264, done 0, windows pid 3948, Win32 error 87

Thanks
Dirk
