With the default settings, usually, on any 32bit OS, including Win2k and Linux and FreeBSD, there is only 2G of virtual memory accessible for user process. The other 2G part is for kernel to use. Each OS has some knobs that you can turn to change the ratio to 3:1 or some other split. But there is always a part that is just for kernel to use, inaccessible to user process. -- VH --------------enigBEB7E20CBE8A2D22D86A43F7 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.3 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iQEVAwUBROsBwENOZDESBK8FAQIlWAf/ZKWssTVmCXrGqBp4oryneiguYngU6vDc nzpdyFddzesGWKG+zIw4wVRjj4uC6uIAh1yDq+o7KypiCG9E4i9i1UUrf/JYU4qP GzxETitsBOptCC41aFaeBXT34fTr05cHT/vKSDd9d+wGvw6h2PUIg3mQTWYKHlBo M7QlApzjmuKV6JDUdbnEGAhb+d+Nsq7ytcGd4n05CJSqy7LxsPzhRV2K5HM3vRxO zKOmXdZXFyfbybgCRt5E30y+Xz3wiHHzW7H+HjqDCnq1WrfGMxtm/Yv2hMfJ8ZMb EFndfSsArrgAIE8CfNPHxFFOPyoy9FZvU+lJat6PKN3oQbKp3mH/ag== =PQ+M -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enigBEB7E20CBE8A2D22D86A43F7--
