The CWD is stored as C:. bash then presents it (and apparently sees it) as /cygdrive/c. ls OTOH apparently sees it as C:, which it can't properly interpret. I'm not sure who's at fault (Cygwin DLL, bash, or ls), but something is getting garbled in translation.
