It (somewhat) worked for me.  I had an rxvt terminal, and invoking 'mined'
commandeered the terminal (changing its size - yuck), but it was an
editor; from there, Alt-f did pop up the menu and I was able to discard
and quit.  I don't know if it would work in a cmd.com terminal.  And I
wish it wouldn't alter my terminal settings (I have a particular size
picked on purpose).

We would need more details why you claim it doesn't work, such as what
terminal you are using, what the exact error message is.  Also, including
'cygcheck -svr' output as a text attachment, as requested here, is
important in a good bug report:
