  Or, to cast the answer in the same terms as the original:

dk AT rainbow /win/c> bash -c "echo \$1" yada

dk AT rainbow /win/c> bash -c "echo \$1" yada YAyada
YAyada
dk AT rainbow /win/c> bash -c "echo \$*" bright sunshiny day
sunshiny day
