Message-Id: <cygwin.Pine.A41.4.61.0509052115010.1327334@aixd3.rhrk.uni-kl.de>

CONTENTS:
=========
There are in a whole five packages concerning Singular.

singular-base: The binaries and startup scripts
singular-share: The libraries containing most of the functionality
singular-help: Help files (info and htmlhelp), Examples
singular-icons: Installs icons for Singular on the Desktop
                 and in the Start Menu
singular-surf: Executeable surf programm, needed to draw one or two
                dimensional varieties

NOTE:
=====
There was a brief window of time where the mirrors had an unannounced
package named singular-helper. That package was an accident, so for best
results if you had installed it, you should uninstall singular-helper.
Further you should uninstall all Singular packages prior to this release.
They may have a inconsistent directory layout to the official version.

INFO:
=====
SINGULAR is a Computer Algebra system for polynomial computations in
commutative algebra, algebraic geometry, and singularity theory.
SINGULAR's main computational objects are ideals and modules over a large
variety of baserings. The baserings are polynomial rings over a field
(e.g., finite fields, the rationals, floats, algebraic extensions,
transcendental extensions), or localizations thereof, or quotient rings
with respect to an ideal. SINGULAR features fast and general
implementations for computing Groebner and standard bases, including e.g.
Buchberger's algorithm and Mora's Tangent Cone algorithm. Furthermore, it
provides polynomial factorizations, resultant, characteristic set and gcd
computations, syzygy and free-resolution computations, and many more
related functionalities. Based on an easy-to-use interactive shell and a
C-like programming language, SINGULAR's internal functionality is
augmented and user-extendible by libraries written in the SINGULAR
programming language. A general and efficient implementation of
communication links allows SINGULAR to make its functionality available to
other programs.

UPDATE:
=======

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the
http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system.
Save it and run setup, answer the questions and pick up 'singular-*'
from the 'Math' category. Then click on the 'skip' field next to
'singular-*' until '3.0.0-1' is displayed.

DOWNLOAD:
=========
Note that downloads from sources.redhat.com (aka cygwin.com) aren't
allowed due to bandwidth limitations. This means that you will need to
find a mirror which has this update, please choose the one nearest to you:
