how about a simple soultion here.
I like typing start->run http://cygwin.com/setup.exe, as I am sure most of
us do. But it would be a "best" practice to name the installer, something
descriptive, like cygwin-2.457.2.2.exe.
Now how about using a symlink on the web server to point one to the
other?
This way, you can get either, and if you click on the link install cygwin
now, you get the cygwin-####.exe otherwise wget away your setup.exe.
