Building the dll works fine 'out-of-the-box' for me and many others.

We're going to need to know what binutils and gcc versions you're using.
See the advice at http://cygwin.com/problems.html about cygcheck output.
You should also tell us the exact command lines you used to download,
configure, and build the source.
