Please do not use this option unless it is absolutely necessary or if
you actually desire a slowdown for every operation which involves a
filename.

Yes, Igor, I can keep this up all day, if you'd like.  Now, you respond
with how unbelievably useful it is and I'll respond with how much overhead
this introduces and how often the option is broken in subtle ways because
neither Corinna nor I care for it.
