That's what puzzles me... All the files gcc claims are missing exist in 
my include path '/usr/lib/perl5/5.8/cygwin/CORE'.  This path does exist 
on my install. 


$ pwd
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8/cygwin/CORE


$ ls -lrt | grep EXTERN.h
