Art,

The flags recognized by cygpath are case-sensitive.  Fergus was talking
about the "-D" flag, which does indeed return the location of the current
user's desktop in POSIX (Unix) form.  His problem was, as many others have
noted, improper quoting of the argument that contained spaces.
