Why not use FreeTDS (http://www.freetds.org/) instead of the Sybase's
Win32 libraries? IIRC, both sqsh and FreeTDS build OOTB under Cygwin.
FWIW, I have used Cygwin sqsh/FreeTDS successfully with Microsoft SQL
Server. However, YMMV with Sybase...
