I could not resist to try it before going out. It worked. I am late but
tha's ok. The only little problem is with the profile in /etc: bash:
/etc/profile: line 196: syntax error: unexpected end of file.
And I look in it with vi:
E325: ATTENTION
Found a swap file by the name "/etc/.profile.swp"
owned by: luigi dated: Mon Oct 25 13:24:27 2004
         file name: /etc/profile
          modified: no
user name: luigi host name: ictprods1
        process ID: 1840
While opening file "/etc/profile"
             dated: Sun Nov 14 13:27:00 2004
      NEWER than swap file!

I might have edited something last time, such as adding
PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:$PATH" but I am not sure.
So far I am tempted to recover it, since teh old version is from the time I
did the fresh new install back in late October.
