Corinna,

I'm sorry that I cannot give definitive answers to your questions -- they
don't give me access to lots of things, e.g., network neighborhood.

I have every reason to believe that the server is running NT, not SAMBA or
another *nix. (Note: The reference to "Solar" in the output of cacls is the
name of a building, not the Solaris OS.)

I don't really know if my permissions are OK. How does one find out?
Policies do not allow me to see user accounts or the network neighborhood.

Here is what cacls says:

/c> cacls h:\\
h:\ NIAID\bbuchbinder:(OI)(CI)C
    NIAID\MSMITH:(OI)(CI)F
    NIAID\SolarITB:(OI)(CI)C

/c> cacls h:\\Home

What I'm missing in your report are a few important details about the
net drives. Are these Windows or Samba shares? If Windows shares, what
does cacls tell you about the target directories on these shares? Are you
sure your permissions are ok?
