I've compiled rxvt-unicode with minor changes. It works only with X.
Without X I get:
$ unset DISPLAY
$ echo $DISPLAY
$ /opt/rxvt-unicode/bin/urxvt
urxvt: can't open display :0
Don't know what to do yet. Currently I cannot get in contact with the rxvt-unicode
mailinglist.
