Ok. Here is how I solved it. 1) wipe out current cygwin. Remove everything, by hand. Including all registry entries. 2) reboot machine 3) reload. Chose the redwire.net server 4) wait. Now, everything works w/o problem. Weird. Could be an interaction of older stuff, could be incorrect mirrors. Don't know.
