Hi Folks,
I am a humble end-user, so this may be a trivial problem.
I use Cygwin on W2K primarily for the Xfree stuff, so I can
echo back X Windows (through an ssh tunnel) from a remote
Solaris box. I had been running a previous version of the X
stuff (sorry, I did not note the version #s). My PC died, and
with a new motherboard, I reinstalled from scratch (yesterday,
May 23), d/l'ing the latest version of all Cygwin stuff.
Now, although I can run several beefy X-based apps
(e.g., MSC.Patran), when I try to run the viewer app in
ABAQUS (abaqus cae), I get this error:
Exception 'Exception: xmd_ResourceErr: Insufficient system resource
available. in file
/usr/abaqus60/6-r63_copy/source/xmd/impl/xmd_XMediaRole.C at line 241'
exiting job.
A Google search revealed this:
http://www.mcsr.olemiss.edu/parallelogram/01_04/abaqus_hint.html
and while setting the MS Windows color depth to 256 colors does
allow the app to load, it renders it almost useless for viewing
results.
Background info:
Athlon XP 1800+, 1GB RAM, in a Soyo SY-KT333 Dragon Ultra mobo
nVIDIA GeForce2 Ti w/64MB (1024x768, 32-bit color)
W2K Pro SP4 + all hotfixes
nVIDIA Forceware v56.72, April 1, 2004, WHQL Certified
cygcheck -c says all packages OK (see attached output).
Any suggestions/pointers appreciated.
Thanks,
-Jeremy
