For other non-vim users (who don't even install it) here is the sed 
script equivilent

s/^\.YODLTAGSTART\./\.YYODLTAGSTART\./
s/\.YODLTAGSTART\./\r\.YODLTAGSTART\./g
s/\.YODLTAGSTART\. roffcmd //
s/\.YYODLTAGSTART\. roffcmd //
s/\.YODLTAGEND\.//
s/\n\.YYODLTAGSTART\..*//

call it patch.sed.

$ cp /usr/man/man1/rxvt.1 /tmp/
$ sed -f patch.sed /tmp/rxvt.1 > /usr/man/man1/rxvt.1
