  mkdir /home
  mount -b "C:/Documents and Settings" /home

Either that or:

  mkdir /cygdrive/c/cygwin/home

if you have already executed the mount.

Then "ls /" shows the home directory.

This is, IMO, closer to the UNIX way of doing things than using a
symlink.
