The cygwin list isn't a really good place for general *nix questions but
lets start a nice long thread on where the best place for general *nix
questions might be.  Nyuh uh.

Just typing "general unix questions" into google should be more than
enough to get you started.

"*nix" shared libraries have various flavors so the question is too
broad.  However, linux and many other unix variants use the ELF format
for their executables/shared libraries.  So, doing a google search
for "dll ELF differences" would probably be instructive.
