Ok, maybe I shouldn't have done it, but this question prompted me to do
the following, and it had an unexpected result (unexpected to me at
least).

ford AT fordpc ~
$ uname -a
CYGWIN_NT-5.1 fordpc 1.5.8(0.110/3/2) 2004-01-26 14:53 i686 unknown
unknown Cygwin

[This is current CVS]

ford AT fordpc ~
$ echo $CYGWIN

ford AT fordpc ~
$ sleep 100

[^Z here]
[1]+  Stopped                 sleep 100

ford AT fordpc ~
$ fg
sleep 100
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

So, it kinda worked :^/.
