I don't recall you posting your "cygcheck -svr" output.  Do you have the
"base-files" package installed?  If so, /etc/services should be a symbolic
link to "C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\services" (you should also have
symbolic links for /etc/hosts, /etc/protocols, and /etc/networks).  If you
don't have those, please remove (or rename) your /etc/services to
something else and (re)install the base-files package.
