Adding -lkernel32 is not necessary because gcc's collect2 automatically 
passes this as an argument to ld during the link stage when building a 
native cygwin binary.  See the "*lib:" line after invoking `gcc 
-dumpspecs` to see the libraries gcc automatically links in.
