linux, Cygwin, just to name a few.  Any place that has a compiler and you
can fetch the source for wget, you can likely build it yourself.

The platform is mostly inconsequencial.  If you can get an application
like wget or curl on the plaform of your choice, you will be able to pull
whichever files you need.

Oh, and just for the record, I use a cron job to run wget on my webserver
(which runs linux Slackware) to sync a private copy off one of the
mirrors of the Cygwin distribution.  I'm sure many people do this too.
It's fairly simple to craft a wget command with the right set of options.
And, as cgf said, this has been discussed many times before on this list
and should be in the email archives.  It was often talked about in
combination with creating a CD image of Cygwin.
