The FAQ has the following, but I can't copy from lynx and mc.
Pressing the left mouse button does something in the
application. On Linux I can copy and paste pressing Shift. Am I
missing something ? I never noticed it since I run screen
inside rxvt, what "disables" the use of the mouse in
applications.

"How can I copy and paste into Cygwin console windows?

First, consider using rxvt instead of the standard console
window. In rxvt, selecting with the left-mouse also copies, and
middle-mouse pastes. It couldn't be easier!"
