Thanks all. Why am I stuck with spaces in pathnames? Because I want to get
rid of all my old dos utilities and instead use cygwin utilities in my
windows directory tree, not just in my cygwin directory tree (which is set
up to emulate unix). I don't want to monkey with the windows directory
structure because I want all my windows software to plug and play, so that I
don't have to learn anything about windows. (Ignore it: maybe it will go
away.)
