The step in the installation process is one that takes a long time
to execute, particularly on older machines.  If you do the crtl-alt-delete
it will sho as "Not Responding", but it is in fact operating.  You
need to be very patient, on some older machines I have seen this step take
quite a few minutes...

Note "Not responding" does not automatically mean locked up and not
running...
