Hi folks,
Help me here....

Let me first give a detailed explanation of the confusion

netsec is supposed to work on NTFS
ntea is said to work on Windows NT ( assuming on non NTFS)

Taking help from CYGWIN user guide , I made the /etc/passwd and /etc/group
files

they are given below

/etc/group::

SYSTEM:S-1-5-18:18:
root:S-1-5-544:0:root
None:S-1-5-21-1935655697-1606980848-1957994488-513:513:
Administrators:S-1-5-32-544:544:
Backup Operators:S-1-5-32-551:551:
Guests:S-1-5-32-546:546:
Power Users:S-1-5-32-547:547:
Replicator:S-1-5-32-552:552:
Users:S-1-5-32-545:545:

/etc/passwd
SYSTEM:*:18:544:,S-1-5-18::
Administrators:*:544:544:,S-1-5-32-544::
Administrator:unused_by_nt/2000/xp:500:513:U-VIKRAM\Administrator,S-1-5-21-1
935655697-1606980848-1957994488-500:/home/Administrator:/bin/bash
Guest:unused_by_nt/2000/xp:501:513:U-VIKRAM\Guest,S-1-5-21-1935655697-160698
0848-1957994488-501:/home/Guest:/bin/bash
root::0:0:S-1-5-21-1935655697-1606980848-1957994488-544:/home/toolchain:/bin
/bash
shared:unused_by_nt/2000/xp:1000:513:shared,U-VIKRAM\shared,S-1-5-21-1935655
697-1606980848-1957994488-1000:/home/shared:/bin/bash

THE problem is if I login as root and CYGWIN is ntea, i cannot change
permissions of file created by root, chmod gives bad file descriptor message

If CYGWIN is set to ntsec it works fine

Y is it so?

Vikram
