Subject: telnet/ftp not working

after installing 1.3.22.1 the telnet in one of my computers is no longer
working
as soon as a host connects to it it closes the connection. I see the following
event log
----
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( inetd ) cannot be found. The
local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL
files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use
the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for
details. The following information is part of the event: inetd : PID 1116 :
uucp/tcp: No such user 'uucp', service ignored.

any idea how to get the inetd services working properly again?
thanx
