I stumbled across the fact that there is a release of
KDE 3.3.1 for Cygwin out there now:

http://kde-cygwin.sourceforge.net/kde3/

One interesting point. This version comes with its own
installer. Its a big download, 40 some odd megabytes.
This is a change from the last time I did an install,
then, it used the Cygwin setup.

The install took a bit, but seemed to do a good job of
setting up the environment variables for me here at home
(Win Xp Home). (This was a bit of a challenge for a
silly old country-boy physicist before)

As proof of my last statement, I just got back from
Orlando, presented at an optical (SPIE) conference.
The whole time there, I was either at the hotel, or
at the convention center, or on the road in between.
Maybe thats not silly, maybe its just pathetic.
