leave processes in memory that i would have to kill."

Thats why I don't ever use that button for that purpose.  
Type exit instead.  Using that button is a bad habit to 
get into anyway.  I have orphaned quite a few processes
that way on UNIX systems.  Have had a number of people
mad at me as a result too.
