first of all thanks for the reply.

It is. And I hope my mail did not sound like a complaint. If there
are problems with cygwin under 2003 I thought it would be in the
interest of all of us if we get those fixed.

I would love to supply someone with a machine. Unfortunately I don't
have a spare one. But of course I am willing to do everything else
possible to debug this. I would need help for this though. Pierre's
e-mail suggested there are problems with the SYSTEM account under
2003 since it might be missing the SeCreateTokenPrivilege. I think
debugging into that direction might help. Any instructions for me?
