No reason, really...the O_BINARY flag didn't work on my Linux station (it
produced a compiler error) and I didn't see immediately what the flag should
be for my distribution/compiler in the header files. It wasn't really
necessary to show the issue that I was seeing, so I didn't bother with it.
If you know what the correct flag is off hand and would like to enlighten me,
I would be glad to recieve your correction :o)
