Please, please, pretty please:

Distribute the source to students.

In my experience, 

Students do not trust binary distros.  They have bugs.  I can find those bugs.
Students (if not too hungover) devour source for breakfast.
Students nibble on source as a midnight snack.

That is a very good thing.
