This is in response to a question that was asked of the list back on Dec 12,
2000 with regard to embedding bitmaps in dialog boxes.

I'm porting an old project (created in VC6) to cygwin and hit the same
problem.

VC6 does this:
CONTROL 102,IDC_STATIC,"Static",SS_BITMAP,0,0,101,179

where 102 is the id in my resource.h for IDB_ENDBMP, which is defined later
in my .rc file:
IDB_ENDBMP BITMAP DISCARDABLE "end.bmp"

These are the changes that I made that worked for me:
CONTROL "ENDBMP",IDC_STATIC,"Static",SS_BITMAP,0,0,101,179

and for the bitmap entry:
ENDBMP BITMAP DISCARDABLE "end.bmp"

Also, I've found that since the reference is to a string-named resource like
this (e.g. the reference is via the string "ENDBMP", rather than the integer
102 via the constant IDB_ENDBMP), there was no longer a need for my
IDB_ENDBMP identifier in resource.h.
