Hi, The cygwin setup program only downloads and installs a small selection of packages by default. You could simply install all packages, or you could look on the web page for the option to search packages and then search for what you want. You'll find packages for compilation, X-server, text processing, etc. By the way: to find the vi editor, search for "vim" since searching for "vi" returns too much to be useful. Also if you know a little about programming, most "free" software for linux can be downloaded (as source code) and compiled using the cygwin tools to run under windows as part of the cygwin installation. I hope this info helps you. /John Vincent. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com -- Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple Bug reporting: http://cygwin.com/bugs.html Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/
