I think the f instead of f77 did in fact give the test build of
gcc-3.1.1 a problem, there is no longer a g77.  Here are the
results for some whiches:

DAKEENS AT DAKEENS ~
$ which gcc
/usr/bin/gcc

DAKEENS AT DAKEENS ~
$ which g++
/usr/bin/g++

DAKEENS AT DAKEENS ~
$ which g77
/cygdrive/c/DJGPP/BIN/g77

Yes, you can fret at me for having djgpp on the machine!
