a quick search on google for "cygwin ctrl-o" yielded nothing
that seemed applicable.

I seem to remember this also hanging bash in a command
window...

$ cat >woof.out
<ctrl-o>


will hang up the window...and there doesn't seem to be
anything you can do to get it back.  I tried another
<ctrl-o>, didn't help...

is this the intended behavior?  ie, works as designed?
